Rosa Round-up:
www.vernontx.com/events.html
This four-day rodeo, staged in a spacious arena south
of Vernon, brings in top name professional cowboys and cowgirls
each year. Recognized as one of the finest rodeos of its
size in the nation, it is also home base for the Santa Rosa
Palomino Club, an award-winning riding club whose precision
drills have thrilled audiences from Houston to Canada and
are a standard feature of each Santa Rosa Roundup performance.
The rodeo, held the third week of May, begins with a downtown
parade that traditionally features an extensive array of
floats, riding clubs and special attractions. Rodeo week
also includes a number of other activities to appeal to
all members of the community.

The most commonly heard statement at
the Red River Valley Museum from first time visitors is,
"I never dreamed that a town this size would have a
museum like this." Indeed, towns with a population
much larger than Vernon's 12,000 would be proud to offer
as many world-class exhibits in such a beautiful setting.
- Hunting, Texas Style:
The region offers some of the country's best big game hunting.
Hunters visiting the area will find Whitetail Deer and Wild
Hogs in abundance. Add to that, Rio Grande Turkey, Bob White
Quail and Dove hunting second to none in Texas.
- Wichita Falls Vineyards
Nestled between the rustling waters of the Wichita River and Buffalo creek, Wichita Falls Vineyards produce wines which capture the unique spirit and history of the region from the Wia Chitoh Indians to today’s international mix of culture and lifestyles.
